Jewellery Care Guide

Kalakaar Jewellery is made from 316L stainless steel with premium 18ct PVD gold plating. 316L stainless steel is a highly durable, corrosion‑resistant material that resists rust and tarnish far better than many other metals commonly used in jewellery, and the PVD coating significantly improves finish longevity with everyday wear. 316L stainless steel is also known for being hypoallergenic and suitable for most skin types.

This combination creates a durable, corrosion‑resistant, waterproof and sweat‑resistant finish that makes your pieces suitable for everyday wear, including occasional water exposure. Studies of 316L stainless steel with PVD coating show that such jewellery can be worn in the shower, at the gym, and while swimming without immediate damage or tarnishing when cared for properly.

Water Contact (Showering & Swimming)

  • You can wear Kalakaar Jewellery in the shower, pool or while swimming as the stainless steel base and PVD coating are designed to resist water and sweat.
  • Rinse your jewellery with fresh water after prolonged exposure to salt water or chlorinated pools to remove mineral deposits and help maintain shine.
  • Dry your jewellery thoroughly with a soft cloth after water contact.

Despite this strength and resistance, certain types of jewellery — especially fine chains and necklaces, delicate link pieces, and stone‑set designs — are inherently more fragile due to their construction. These pieces have small links, clasps, or settings that can stretch, catch, bend, or become loose if subjected to intense physical pressure or friction.

For this reason, we recommend removing jewellery with fine chains, delicate link bracelets or necklaces, and stone‑set pieces (e.g., cubic zirconia or other inlays) before activities such as:

  • Sleeping
  • Exercising, gym sessions or sports
  • Manual work, gardening or housework

This practice helps minimise unnecessary stress on tiny components that are otherwise strong but not designed to withstand repeated force or twisting. Taking jewellery off in these situations helps prevent stretching of fine links, loosening stone settings, or bending of structural parts — all of which are examples of wear and tear and are not covered under Kalakaar Jewellery's warranty.

General Care Tips

To keep your jewellery looking its best for years:

  • Apply lotions, perfumes, and skincare products and allow them to fully dry before putting on jewellery.
  • After heavy sweat, showering or swimming, rinse with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.
  • Store jewellery in a dry pouch or box when not worn to prevent scratches or tangling.
  • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals like bleach, detergents and strong soaps over long periods.

This guidance helps balance Kalakaar Jewellery's waterproof and sweat‑resistant properties with advice that preserves the longevity of delicate constructions like fine chains and stones, which is in line with best practices for quality jewellery care.
